FC Augsburg 0-2 FC Bayern München

Augsburg almost added incision to their organisation after half-time, Andre Hahn tested Manuel Neuer from distance while David Alaba was called into action far more than an animated Pep Guardiola would have liked. Even the introduction of Franck Ribery couldn't rouse Bayern, but eventually Guardiola was calmed. Following a corner, Jerome Boateng dinked the ball towards the back post where Robben’s replacement, Thomas Müller, stretched to head Bayern into a two-goal lead. Raphael Holzhauser and Raul Bobadilla carved out threatening late chances, but they were unable to prevent Bayern reaching the last eight.

Joselu netted again four minutes after the break by powering his penalty into the bottom right-hand corner of Manuel Riemann’s goal. Frankfurt threatened to throw their quarter-final place away when Sebastian Rode put past his own keeper, before Sandhausen levelled when Simon Tüting’s left-footed volley beat Kevin Trapp from the edge of the box. As it was, Rode teed up Kadlec 20 yards out, and his rasping drive put the Eagles back in the lead. Joselu completed a hat-trick late on to enable Frankfurt to pen another chapter in their cup fairytale.
