PSG IN OMINOUS FORM

Paris Saint-Germain looked fearsome as they overcame a spirited Lyon side 4-0; Lille scored the only away win of the round to stay in second; Bastia’s Mickaël Landreau celebrated his 602nd Ligue 1 appearance with a win.The top of the table may look the same as it did going into Week 15, the top four sides all recording wins, but it was the way that Paris Saint-Germain toppled a combative Lyon side at the Parc des Princes on Sunday night that made them look stronger title favourites than ever.

Tactical tweak pays off

For the first half-hour, OL did as well, if not better, than any other side has in the capital this season. Rémi Garde’s men pressed hard, stifled PSG in the middle of the park and looked the goods to take a shock lead when Aléxandre Lacazette smashed a shot onto the bar. But an astute tactical move from Laurent Blanc – inverting his midfield triangle to have two holding midfielders – sparked a ferocious turnaround.Edinson Cavani struck the opener with a glancing header minutes later (36′), Zlatan Ibrahimovic struck from the spot five minutes after that (41′, pen.) and captain Thiago Silva bagged his first Ligue 1 goal (60′) to mercilessly put down OL’s rebellion. Ibrahimovic added a fourth, again with a penalty, seven minutes from time to round out the thumping win and go top of the scorers chart with 11 goals (83′, pen.).
