Highlanders win top Zimbabwean Cup

Zimbabwean club side, Highlanders beat How Mine 3-0 to lift the major Cup (Mbada Diamonds Cup) in the top flight league on Saturday 30 November. Goals from Njabulo Ncube, Peter Moyo and Masimba Mambare ensured that the Bulawayo based side atones for the disappointment of losing the championship on goal difference for the second time in a row to arch rivals Dynamos.

Highlanders might have won the Mbada Diamonds Cup but due to a CAF 3 year ban “Bosso” will not be able to compete in the 2014 Confederation Cup and instead How Mine will take that place and compete in the 2014 continental club competition.How Mine had reached the final on the back of some “giant slaying” streak but found Highlanders in no mood to be added to that list. How Mine knocked out league champions Dynamos and CAPS United on the way to the final but had to settle for the runners –up check of US $90 000 while Highlanders pocket US $130 000 for the win.
